Fun Weekend

We've had a busy weekend! Yesterday, after a long run with Tom and a very filling breakfast of Clare's pancakes, we headed over to a local farm and picked a few strawberries. We had so many strawberries (about 10+ lbs.!) I was able to make four pints of stawberry jam and we still have a TON left over. We're eating strawberries at every meal and I think I'm going to be able to freeze a good many, too.
Clare had her first experience babysitting . . . her little brother while Tom and I went to dinner with friends. What a great feeling! I know she's very responsible and we trust her completely to do the right thing. All was good when we got home.

Today, we went hiking. What a gorgeous day it was!! The mountains were so beautiful and the temperature was perfect. The kids were good most of it - until we start to head back to the car and they got anxious to end the hike. Our dog, Mia came with us and was completely whipped by the end. I was able to hang back a few times and enjoy some peace and quiet while experimenting with my camera (see the flowers below.) There were quite a few pretty wildflowers blooming - the mountain laurel was beginning, but I didn't get a good shot. All in all, it was an awesome adventure. We were able to get a 5.5 mile hike in and still hang out and nap at home.
Tomorrow will be filled with finishing up school projects, taking a BRIEF dip in the pool, and time together at home. I'm hoping to organize a few things here and get ready for another busy week of school, work, and extra curricular activities! Should be great fun! Summer is only a few weeks away!
